Why in the news?

"Urea Gold" is a new variety of urea that is coated with sulphur, recently launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rajasthan’s Sikar.

Key facts

• The launch of Urea Gold was among other moves benefiting farmers in the state.
• Aim: It is designed to address sulphur deficiencies in the soil, benefiting farmers by enhancing agricultural productivity.

What is Urea Gold

• It is a new variety of urea that is coated with sulphur.
• "The application of sulphur coated urea,  known as Urea Gold, will address sulphur deficiencies in the soil,".
• This "innovative fertiliser" is more economical and efficient than neem-coated urea, "ensuring improved nitrogen use efficiency, reduced consumption, and enhanced crop quality,".
• This Urea Gold is applied slowly, following which the plants get nutrients for a long time. "Due to the sulphur coating, the plants also gets nourishment of  sulphur. This ensures less use of urea, while at the same time, more nourishment that would increase the produce,".
• Urea coated with sulphur helps in slow release of nitrogen, therefore increasing its availability and uptake.
• Urea Gold has added humic acid to enhance longevity of the fertiliser.
•  It will substitute urea consumption and also reduce fertiliser use.
• 15 kg of Urea Gold is comparable to 20 kg of conventional urea,making it a more efficient and effective choice for farmers.
• The main function of Urea fertilizer (40% of Nitrogen content) is to provide the plants with nitrogen to promote green leafy growth. It also aids the photosynthesis process of plants. Since urea fertilizer can provide only nitrogen and not phosphorus or potassium, it’s primarily used for bloom growth.

What is Neem-coated urea?

Neem-coated urea is a specialized form of urea fertilizer that has been coated with neem oil.

Benefits:

1. The neem coating on urea slows down the release of nitrogen into the soil. This controlled release helps reduce nitrogen leaching and volatilization, leading to improved nitrogen use efficiency by plants.
2. It would bring down the quantity of urea per acre and consequent reduction in input cost to farmers.
3. The emission of nitrous oxide is also brought down significantly.
4. Neem oil, derived from the neem tree (Azadirachta indica), has natural pesticidal properties.

"यूरिया गोल्ड" सल्फर से लेपित यूरिया की एक नई किस्म है, जिसे हाल ही में प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने राजस्थान के सीकर में लॉन्च किया है।

उद्देश्य: इसे मिट्टी में सल्फर की कमी को दूर करने, कृषि उत्पादकता बढ़ाकर किसानों को लाभ पहुंचाने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है।

यूरिया गोल्ड क्या है?

• यह यूरिया की एक नई किस्म है जो सल्फर से लेपित होती है।
• "सल्फर लेपित यूरिया, जिसे यूरिया गोल्ड के नाम से जाना जाता है, इसके प्रयोग से मिट्टी में सल्फर की कमी दूर हो जाएगी।"
• यह "अभिनव उर्वरक" नीम-लेपित यूरिया की तुलना में अधिक किफायती और कुशल है, "यह बेहतर नाइट्रोजन उपयोग दक्षता, कम खपत और बढ़ी हुई फसल की गुणवत्ता सुनिश्चित करता है"।
• इस यूरिया गोल्ड को धीरे-धीरे डाला जाता है, जिसके बाद पौधों को लंबे समय तक पोषक तत्व मिलते रहते हैं। "सल्फर कोटिंग के कारण, पौधों को सल्फर का पोषण भी मिलता है। इससे यूरिया का कम उपयोग सुनिश्चित होता है, जबकि साथ ही अधिक पोषण मिलता है जिससे उपज में वृद्धि होगी।"
• सल्फर से लेपित यूरिया नाइट्रोजन को धीमी गति से जारी करने में मदद करता है, जिससे इसकी उपलब्धता और उपभोग बढ़ जाता है।
• यूरिया गोल्ड में उर्वरक की दीर्घायु बढ़ाने के लिए ह्यूमिक एसिड मिलाया गया है।
•  यह यूरिया की खपत को कम करेगा और उर्वरक के उपयोग को भी कम करेगा।
• 15 किलोग्राम यूरिया गोल्ड 20 किलोग्राम पारंपरिक यूरिया के बराबर है, जो इसे किसानों के लिए अधिक कुशल और प्रभावी विकल्प बनाता है।
• यूरिया उर्वरक (40% नाइट्रोजन सामग्री) का मुख्य कार्य हरी पत्तियों के विकास को बढ़ावा देने के लिए पौधों को नाइट्रोजन प्रदान करना है। यह पौधों की प्रकाश संश्लेषण प्रक्रिया में भी सहायता करता है। चूंकि यूरिया उर्वरक केवल नाइट्रोजन प्रदान कर सकता है, फॉस्फोरस या पोटेशियम नहीं, इसका उपयोग मुख्य रूप से फूलों के विकास के लिए किया जाता है।

नीम लेपित यूरिया क्या है?

• नीम-लेपित यूरिया यूरिया उर्वरक का एक विशेष रूप है जिसे नीम के तेल के साथ लेपित किया गया है।

फ़ायदे:

1. यूरिया पर नीम कोटिंग से मिट्टी में नाइट्रोजन का निकलना धीमा हो जाता है। यह नियंत्रित रिहाई नाइट्रोजन लीचिंग और वाष्पीकरण को कम करने में मदद करती है, जिससे पौधों द्वारा नाइट्रोजन उपयोग दक्षता में सुधार होता है।
2. इससे प्रति एकड़ यूरिया की मात्रा में कमी आएगी और परिणामस्वरूप किसानों की इनपुट लागत में कमी आएगी।
3. नाइट्रस ऑक्साइड का उत्सर्जन भी काफी कम हो गया है।
4. नीम के पेड़ (अज़ादिराक्टा इंडिका) से प्राप्त नीम के तेल में प्राकृतिक कीटनाशक गुण होते हैं।
