How Many Students Appeared for UPSC 2023?
- On 28th May 2023, approximately 13 lakh students appeared for UPSC Prelims 2023 which was held at 79 exam centers across India for a total of 1255 vacancies. Out of these, only 14624 students were able to score marks above cut off and are eligible to proceed for the Mains round.
- The number of candidates applying for the Civil services examination is increasing every year, but the number of candidates selected out of the total number remains almost constant. This ascertains the difficulty level of the exam, which is why more and more aspirants are unable to crack it.
UPSC Civil Services 2023 result out:
The Union Public Service Commission has released the results for the Civil Services Exam 2023 today, April 16, 2024. The final result and merit list has been released by the Commission for the appointment of 1,016 candidates into various Central Services and Group A and B services through the Civil Services Exam 2023. The Civil Services Exam written round was held in September 2023 and subsequently the interviews were held between January and April 2024.
Candidates are chosen for roles in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Central Services Groups 'A' and 'B'. How many students have been selected for the different services? In the results announced today for the civil service examination 2023, 180 candidates have been selected for the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), while the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) has shortlisted approximately 37 candidates. The Indian Police Service (IPS) has also welcomed about 200 new recruits. Additionally, the Central Services Group 'A' has seen around 613 individuals chosen, while 113 candidates have been selected for Central Services Group 'B'.
UPSC Mains Exam Pattern for the IAS exam 2024:
- The candidates who are preparing for the UPSC Mains exam should be well versed with the UPSC MAINS EXAM Pattern. The candidates can get the study material from the official website i.e. upsc.gov.in. The UPSC Mains exam pattern 2023 will consist of 9 theory-based papers (descriptive one). Out of these 9 papers, 7 will be counted for creating merit list. The candidates will have to choose 1 optional subject for the UPSC Mains.
- The maximum marks for the UPSC Mains exams are 1750 (250 marks each). All papers will be of 3-hour duration.
