GURU GHASIDAS – TAMOR PINGLA TIGER RESERVE
FACTOID
- Location – Koriya district, Northern part of Chattisgarh (Bordering Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand)
- Going to be 4th Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh
- Adding to the eco-tourism and generation of employment opportunities for villagers of buffer areas.
- MoFCC will establish it in 2,830 sq km under SWB (State wildlife Board) & NTCA (National Tiger Conservation Authority).
- Three Tiger reserves already existing in the state are – Indravati (Bijapur); Udanti-Sitanadi (Gariaband) ; Achanakmar (Mungeli).
THE GEOGRAPHY OF GURU GHASIDAS REGION
- The Fauna species found in such area are – mammal species, tigers, leopards, hyenas, jackals, wolves, sloth bears, barking deer, chinkara and chital.
- It also contributes as an origin of several rivers namely – Neur, Banas, Rehand etc.
- It borders with Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh providing a long corridor from Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve to Palamau Tiger Reserve FPR tiger to move.
- The initial name of this site was Sanjay Dubri National Park.
