Pingali Venkayya (1876–1963)

Context (PIB): PM paid tributes to freedom fighter Pingali Venkayya on his 150th birth anniversary, honoring his historic national contributions.

• Flag Designer & Legacy: Popularly known as "Jhanda Venkayya," he designed the original tricolour concept later endorsed by Gandhi in 1921.
• Freedom Struggle: Born in Andhra Pradesh, he actively participated in the Vande Mataram, Home Rule, and Andhrodyamam movements.
• Constituent Assembly Adoption: His design formed the basis for India’s National Flag, adopted on 22 July 1947 with the Ashoka Chakra.
• Geologist & Author: Earned the moniker "Diamond Venkayya" for diamond mining research and published the book "The Mother of Diamonds".

Shipki La

Context : India-China border trade resumed through Shipki La via the new Chhuppan Trade Mart following a six-year hiatus.

• Geography & Location: Located at 3,930 metres on NH 5, this mountain pass connects Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district with Tibet.

Dhimsa Dance

• Origin & Tribe: Traditional folk dance native to Araku Valley (Andhra Pradesh) and Koraput, performed by indigenous communities like Bagata and Poraja.

Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PM-VBRY)
